: UTSA SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE

I am happy to announce that I have been appointed a member of the University of Texas, San Antonio faculty.  Beginning this Summer I will teaching in both the Undergraduate and Graduate School, teaching Design Studio and Visual Communication.

: IH35 MAKEOVER GROUNDBREAKING

Work has begun for the IH35 Makeover project in Austin Texas.  I was fortunate to part take in this great project while with Cotera + Reed Architects, and look forward to experiencing it soon.

I am happy to announce the Groundbreaking of Southwests Key’s Expansion Project.  I was very fortunate and lucky to have had the opportunity to meet and work with the wonderful people at Southwest Key. I look forward to seeing the development of this very important project.

: UTSA STUDIO / MCCLELLAND + ARAIZA STUDIO REVIEW

I will be participating in Kevin McClelland and Armando Araiza Design Studio Review at the University of Texas at San Antonio. The studio is focussed on re-imagining the UTSA Downtown Campus’s University Library using contemporary fabrication techniques and processes.

: COLUMBIA REVIEW / HERNAN DIAZ ALONSO

Hernan Diaz Alonso, and Columbia will be hosting Sci Arc’s X-Lab Midterm presentations. X-Lab is an advanced graduate architecture studio, focussing on various affectual conditions as they apply to architecture, in this instance an Animal Hospital. Guest Critics include, Brennan Buck, Eric Carcomo, Toru Hasegawa, Robert J. Mezquiti, and David Ruy.

: PRATT REVIEW / STUDIO MODE

Studio Mode will be hosting their mid-term review this friday at Pratt. ‘The Novel Context’ introduces students to the concept of context as an active participant in the development of a project. Jurors will include, Lon Combs, Richard Sarrach, George Showman, Jason Lee, Robert J Mezquiti, and Michael Chen. Studio Mode is the very talented and innovative collaborative of Gil Akos and Ronnie Parsons.

These are few samples from a workshop I attended in Chicago last October given by the very talented Ronnie Parson and Gil Akos of Studio Mode. The workshop was part of the ACADIA 09 conference in Chicago, Ill.

Robert J Mezquiti has been nominated and appointed to serve on the Mexican American Cultural Center’s Advisory Board.

The MACC is an organization whose roots began in the mid-70′s in an effort to promote cultural diversity and establish cross-cultural linkages on a regional, national, and international level.
